Hi, my name is Yuxiang Hao

My name is Yuxiang Hao, and I’m a recent graduated Master of Architecture student from the University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

I approach architecture as an evolving dialogue between place, people, and environment — a discipline that demands both creative imagination and rigorous analysis. My design process is rooted in deep contextual research, where I explore historical narratives, cultural dynamics, environmental systems, and urban patterns to uncover the forces that shape a site. Whether studying precedents or mapping out community needs, I strive to understand the built environment from the perspective of its users. I believe that meaningful design emerges from empathy — by placing myself in the everyday experiences of those who will inhabit a space, I aim to create architecture that is both intentional and responsive.

For me, analysis is not a preliminary phase, but a continuous practice throughout the design journey. It grounds my ideas, informs my decisions, and helps transform abstract concepts into spatial experiences that connect across scales — from the intimate to the infrastructural.

Lately, my work has focused on climate-responsive systems, speculative futures, and the intersection of technology and ecology. I am especially interested in how design can mediate between natural processes and urban life — creating spaces that are adaptive, inclusive, and resilient
